A Great Team is the Key coming to Nairobi

It is a pleasure for us to design the community process for the Internews GIF project (Greater Internet Freedom) thanks to the invitation from our friends of Team CommUNITY in New York, who after running the IFF (Internet Freedom Festival) in Valencia, will come back this year with a wonderful and improved post-pandemic version of the event.

Nairobi is the city where members of the GIF network will meet after a Couple of years of working together in 6 regions of the world. We will provide them with tools and resources to make their teams a great network.

We are super excited to run a hybrid program full of challenges and activities that will boost collaboration, trust, closeness and friendship in a common purpose to make the internet a safe and free space for everyone.

This process includes a new element beyond Empathy , that we consider essential in the conformation and execution of teamwork .

Vulnerability is for us the key to open, honest and purpose-driven collaboration. It enables positive leadership, helps to keep the teams mental health in place and the most important part, brings people together to achieve goals and make a positive change.

A great team is the key

Modern societies teach us to hide and be afraid of our own vulnerability, but we have discovered that in combination with empathy, it helps us understand eachother as humans, deal with the systems we create, and operate the challenges we face as we evolve.

Understanding and embracing our vulnerability breaks the barriers and limits we created during the lockdown, and set us free from the isolation most of us do not miss anynore.

This new element becomes an important part of the MIDI method and we will be sharing the results of this practice in Kenya very soon.

Stay tuned for tools and methods around vulnerability, empathy, leadership and team management.
